Brooklyn Beckham receives such heavy-handed protection that he reportedly has bodyguards protecting him during his Arsenal matches.
England
legend David Beckham and wife Victoria have hired a guard - an
ex-special forces soldier - to attend all of their son's matches for the
north London club.
The guard even dresses up like a member of the backroom coaching staff to blend in, according to the Daily Star, and focuses solely on protecting Beckham Jr.The newspaper has quoted 'a source close to Arsenal' describing exactly how the bizarre arrangement works.
"The bodyguard
puts on a Gunners tracksuit and sits on the bench like he is part of
the coaching staff," the source told The Star.
"Because of how big a star David is, the family decided to take the step to hike up his safety.
"Arsenal were more than happy to do what is necessary to ensure safety for all their young players."
BROOKLYN 'SNUBS UNITED AND CHELSEA' SIGNS WITH ARSENAL
As a result of the security measures in place for the 15-year-old, apparently only parents and those specifically invited to attend Arsenal youth matches can now do so.
The
newspaper quotes a 'source at the Premier League side' as saying:
"Whereas before supporters could walk up and watch the games without any
problems, the matches are now ‘behind closed doors’ with restrictions
in place as to who can and can’t attend.
"It’s
a no-brainer to tighten security when you have such a big name at
games. Brooklyn is one for the future and, because of his family, he
attracts loads of attention.
"He’s already used to having lots of attention so he is taking it in his stride. He’s doing really well."
With
Brooklyn's younger brothers Romeo and Cruz, 12 and nine respectively,
also in the youth ranks it appears as though the 'beefed up' security
measures will be in place for quite some time.
